Almost perfect! I worked in a eating place known for their beef on weck and the flim-flam is to dip the cut rolls in the au jus just a bit before serving then its non so messy.

Absolutely what i've been looking for. I grew upwards in Buffalo, this being ane of my FAVORITE sandwiches. I didn't realize information technology was only local until I moved to the west coast. Now I'm dating an Oregonian and he had never heard of beef on weck. Outrageous! So, since there are no Kimmelweck rolls to be found out here, this recipe was perfect. Cheers!

Great recipe, and a groovy mode to make kimmelweck rolls for people who may not be able to find them where they live!

This takes a French Dip to an entirely new level. I dear caraway seeds, and then this just hit the spot. The fibroid salt adds a texture reminiscent of a behemothic soft pretzel, although I must admit information technology was too salty for me using the recommended ratio. The caraway seeds and common salt will stick to the bun using plain h2o, but I found that you get a crustier top if you brush the buns with an egg wash consisting of egg whites and water.

Between the table salt in the au jus and the bun, it was only too salty. I'm sticking with Italian beefs.

Closest thing to Kimmelweck rolls without going through the hassle of making them yourself. Effort brushing the rolls with melted butter instead of water (I also leave off the caraway seeds). The "Easy Ho-hum Cooker French Dip" recipe is delicious for cooking your meat and au jus sauce. These two recipes make for a mouth watering sandwich!

this is a really good, quick convenience recipe!!! I esp. like the part virtually making the plain kaiser rolls into kimmelweck rolls. My husband and kids enjoyed them. Thank you!

Nosotros dip the bottom side of the summit roll in au jus and just serve with horseradish. This recipe was just what I needed. My Buffalonian boyfriend was overjoyed :) Thank you.

Thanks and so much for the method of making "weck" from "no weck!" I surely miss those Weck rolls from Buffalo! At present I don't have to feel deprived!

This is a expert recipe. I brushed the rolls with a water-cornstarch mixture, about the consistency of Elmer'due south glue, then put table salt and caraway on, then broiled them.

I am from Western NY and this sandwich is one of the things I fondly call back and really miss eating! At that place is nothing like the true Kimmelweck gyre merely one time you are outside of Western NY you won't find them. This method of transforming the Kaiser roll actually does work though! Thanks for the recipe!

like I recall Bay-Lo's Bar & Grill beef on weck ( Bailey @ Lovejoy in Buffalo , New York ) ... they would marinate the beef ribeye slices in their own juices, put 'em hot on a D & Fifty Baker kummelweck roll and add a dollop of horseradish on top !!! ... with a draft beer, some kinda skillful !!!

Looks pretty Practiced. My favorite restaurant in Western NY makes it with thinly sliced Prime rib and German language potato salad on the side and I accept substituted both here.

I used cornstarch and water to castor on the hard roll and then sprinkle with Pretzel salt and caraway seeds. So bake in the oven at 275 degrees F for maybe 10 minutes just until the egg white is dried and shiny or the cornstarch is dried. I dip the cut side of the top roll very slightly into the au jus and I am thinking that you want the beefiness pink so you practice not want to melt it all in the au jus. I love that I can make this sandwich in my PA kitchen, fifty-fifty if the restaurants only offer Cheesesteaks. I takes me home with every bite. Thank you for posting!

Exercise Not melt the wafer/thin sliced beef for 10 minutes on medium while the rolls are in the oven - this volition overcook the meat. As others have stated, utilize tongs to dip the beef in the hot au jus for 15 seconds, plate it on the bottom half of the roll, dip the elevation half in the au jus, and set it on top of the beef. Guests tin add together their ain horseradish.

An splendid make at home recipe for a Buffalo tradition! I peculiarly appreciated the hack for creating a kimmelweck ringlet since you lot merely cannot go them here in the south. Delicious meal following a Bills win!!

I didn't exercise the salt and caraway seeds on the rolls, but these were delicious and very easy.

The biggest flaw in this recipe is y'all need to use pretzel salt non kosher or course ground sea table salt. Its but not the same. Good in a pinch though.

I lived just outside of Buffalo, NY for 20 years. This was always my favorite sandwich. This recipe was perfect. Since you tin't find weck rolls in Seattle, this recipe showed me how to make them. And every bit for the roast beef, getting it thinly sliced is of import. That contributes to its tenderness. I am so happy to have a gustatory modality of dwelling! Yum!

I moved to Maine several years ago and Kimmelweck is unknown hither. Also craven wings this is my nigh missed food. This is the closest I've came to having the real thing.Just make sure that the beef is rare. I recently returned from a trip to Buffalo and after having i in that location I was peckish more here. Thanks for giving me some memories back.
